Core Technologies
The FireBird BASS sits just below the flagship Dragon series and uses a mix of extremely high-purity metals and advanced noise dissipation:
- ZERO-Tech (No Characteristic Impedance): This is the headline feature. AudioQuest argues that standard cables "strangle" the music due to impedance mismatches. ZERO-Tech eliminates the cable’s characteristic impedance, allowing for uncompressed current transfer and better "slam" or dynamic contrast.
- Solid PSS and PSC+ Conductors: It uses a blend of Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) and Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+). Solid conductors prevent "strand-to-strand interaction," which is a major source of distortion. The silver provides the transparency, while the copper keeps the cost from reaching Dragon levels.
- 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): You’ll notice a battery pack attached to the cable. This "biases" the insulation (the dielectric), keeping it electrically organized so it doesn't store and release energy into the signal, which often causes a "blurred" sound.
- RF/ND-Tech (Radio-Frequency Noise Dissipation): This is a patented technology that cancels induced RF noise. It’s the reason the cable is restricted to bass/midrange—the filter is so aggressive at scrubbing high-frequency interference that it would roll off the treble if used as a full-range cable.
