Product description
The Grado Epoch4 sits as the flagship phono cartridge in Grado Labs' ultra-high-end Lineage Series. Hand-assembled in Brooklyn, New York, it represents the absolute peak of Grado's proprietary moving iron architecture.
Core Design & Engineering
-
Flux-Bridger Moving Iron System: Rather than using a heavy magnet or coil on the cantilever, Grado's patented Flux-Bridger system utilizes a minute iron element. This achieves an ultra-low effective moving mass, combining the transient speed of a moving coil (MC) with the electrical stability of a moving magnet (MM).
- Stylus & Cantilever: Features a nude Shibata diamond mounted on an extremely rigid sapphire cantilever. The Shibata profile maximizes contact with the record groove walls for extreme high-frequency detail retrieval while minimizing record wear and surface noise.
- Brazilian Ebony Body: Encased in dense, hand-selected Brazilian Ebony wood, which acts as a natural mechanical damper to eliminate internal resonance and coloration.
- Ultra-Purity Internal Wiring: Wounded using gold-plated, ultra-high-purity Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper wire. The internal assemblies undergo dual cryogenic treatments to stress-relieve the metal and optimize signal conductivity.
