Moving Iron (MI) Design: Unlike standard Moving Magnet (MM) or Moving Coil (MC) designs, Grado utilizes a Flux-Bridger moving iron generator system. This provides the low effective moving mass typically associated with MC cartridges, but outputs a high enough voltage (4.0 mV) to plug directly into standard MM phono preamps.
- Hand-Selected Quality: The Green4 shares its underlying architecture with the base-tier Black4 cartridge. However, the top ~15% of manufactured units that pass stricter quality-control tolerances during testing are badged as Green4s, yielding better channel separation and lower distortion.
- OTL Cantilever & Stylus: It features Grado’s Optimized Transmission Line (OTL) 3-piece cantilever design with an elliptical diamond stylus, which reduces resonances and preserves detail retrieval.
- Brooklyn Hand-Built: Every unit is hand-assembled in Brooklyn, NY.
