Hana MC EL MKII

The Hana EL Mk II is a low-output moving coil (MC) phono cartridge manufactured in Japan by Excel Sound. The "E" stands for its Elliptical diamond stylus profile, while the "L" designates it as a Low-output model.

As part of Hana's Mk II generation updates, the EL Mk II trickles down technical design improvements originally introduced in their higher-end M Series, S Series Mk II, and flagship Umami models.

Key Features & Key Mk II Upgrades

• Brass-Capped Body: The redesigned moss-green cartridge body adds a solid brass top plate, increasing total weight to 8.6g. This adds mass and significantly improves vibration and resonance control during tracking.

• Threaded Mounting Insert: Unlike the original E Series which required nuts and bolts, the Mk II includes threaded brass body inserts for much simpler mounting and alignment on headshells.
• New 8-Ohm Generator: Updated coil windings drop the internal impedance down to 8-ohm (borrowed from the higher-tier ML and SL Mk II models), making it easier to pair cleanly with a wider variety of MC phono preamps.
• Cryogenic Treatment: Key generator parts and signal output pins undergo cryogenic treatment to maximize electrical conductivity and signal purity.
• Elastomeric Body Coating: Provides additional resonance damping while giving the chassis its signature matte moss-green finish.
