Power Cables

The AudioQuest Monsoon is a high-performance AC power cable from the brand's "Wind Series." It is designed to be a significant step up from standard "stock" power cords, focusing on reducing noise and allowing for uncompressed current delivery to high-performance audio components like amplifiers, subwoofers, and power conditioners.

Product description

Upgrade a wide range of audio/video components, constant- and variable-current alike, with AudioQuest’s Monsoon 3-pole AC power cable. Monsoon features True-Concentric Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) and Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors that have been carefully controlled for directionality to efficiently drain RF-noise. ZERO-Tech ensures uncompressed current transfer while RF/ND-Tech minimizes circuit misbehavior by cancelling induced RF-noise for quiet backgrounds and thrilling dynamics.

Core Technologies

  • Mixed Metal Conductors: Monsoon uses a blend of Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) and Long-Grain Copper (LGC). The higher-purity PSC+ is placed on the outside of the conductor bundle (where the signal primarily travels), while the LGC forms the core. This reduces "graininess" and harshness in the sound.

  • ZERO-Tech (No Characteristic Impedance): Most power cables compress current transients because they have a characteristic impedance. ZERO-Tech is designed to eliminate this, allowing the cable to deliver high-current bursts (important for power-hungry amplifiers) without restriction.
  • Ground-Noise Dissipation (GND): AudioQuest’s patented technology uses a phase-cancelling array to "drain" radio-frequency (RF) noise away from the ground wire. This prevents the ground from acting like an antenna that feeds noise back into your sensitive audio circuits.
  • True-Concentric Geometry: Instead of random bundles of wire, the strands are packed in a fixed, symmetrical layer. This minimizes "strand interaction," which is a common source of distortion in lower-end cables.
