Key Features & Internal Upgrades
The "MKII" designation represents more than just a minor update; Rotel overhauled several critical acoustic components to lower the noise floor and improve clarity:
- Texas Instruments 32-bit DAC: Replacing the Wolfson DAC found in the original, this new TI chipset supports up to 32-bit/384kHz processing. While CDs are natively 16-bit/44.1kHz, this high-speed overhead allows for more precise filtering and smoother analog reconstruction.
- Custom Toroidal Transformer: Rotel manufactures its own transformers in-house. The MKII uses a large, ultra-low-noise toroidal transformer that provides separate windings for the analog, digital, and motor control circuits to prevent electrical interference.
- Balanced XLR Outputs: Unlike many mid-range players, the RCD-1572 MKII features true differential XLR outputs. This allows for a fully balanced connection to your amplifier, which is highly effective at rejecting external noise and RF interference.
- Upgraded CD Mechanism: The tray-loading mechanism and CD controller chipset were updated for more reliable disc reading and quieter operation.
