Product Description
The Samsung LST9, better known as The Terrace "Full Sun" edition, is the powerhouse of Samsung’s outdoor TV lineup. While the standard LST7 (Partial Sun) is meant for covered decks, the LST9 is specifically engineered to survive and thrive under direct, harsh sunlight.
1. The "Full Sun" Advantage
- The LST9’s primary selling point is its Full Sun Protection. Most TVs will develop permanent black splotches (isotropic failure) if left in direct sunlight because the panels overheat.
- Direct-Sun Panel: It features a specialized film and cooling tech to prevent heat damage.
- Insane Brightness: It reaches 1,500 to 2,000+ nits of peak brightness. For context, a high-end indoor TV usually hits about 600–800 nits. This ensures the picture isn't washed out by the afternoon sun.
- Anti-Reflection: It uses a high-end matte finish to minimize glare, which is often the biggest enemy of outdoor viewing.
2. Weatherproof Durability (IP56)
The LST9 is essentially an armored tank compared to indoor TVs. It carries an IP56 rating, meaning:
- Water & Dust: It can handle heavy rain, snow, and dust storms. It isn't submersible, but a garden hose or a thunderstorm won't kill it.
- Temperature Extremes: It is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from -22°F to 122°F (-30°C to 50°C).
- The Remote: Even the included Samsung SolarCell remote is weather-resistant.
3. Picture & Tech Specs
Don't let the rugged exterior fool you; the internals are premium:
- Panel Type: Recent models (like the LST9D) use Neo QLED (Mini-LED) technology, providing much deeper blacks and better contrast than older LED versions.
- Resolution: 4K UHD with the Quantum Processor 4K for upscaling.
- Smart Features: It runs the full Tizen OS, including the Samsung Gaming Hub (for cloud gaming without a console) and apps like Netflix and Disney+.
- HDBase-T Receiver: It has a built-in HDBase-T receiver, which allows you to run a single long-distance cable for both power and 4K video from inside your house.
