The Atoll PR300 Evolution (EVO) is a high-end stereo preamplifier designed and handcrafted in France by Atoll Electronique. It serves as a flagship entry in Atoll’s upgraded “Evolution” series, introducing a fully symmetrical dual-mono architecture, balanced XLR connectivity, and advanced power management over previous generations.

Core Circuitry & Architecture

  • Fully Symmetrical Dual-Mono Design: Employs independent symmetrical stages for each channel and switched-resistor stereo attenuators per channel to eliminate crosstalk and maintain channel separation.

  • Class-A Audio Stages: Audio amplification uses discrete bipolar transistors biased in Class A with low overall negative feedback, paired with shielded MKP link capacitors.

  • Dedicated Multi-Transformer Power Supply: Powered by four separate transformers—two 10 VA toroidal transformers dedicated to the analog audio stages, a 3.2 VA linear transformer for digital audio stages, and a 5 VA supply for system logic. Total capacitance reaches 89,000 µF for transient headroom.

  • Chassis Construction: Features an 8 mm brushed, micro-blasted anodized aluminum front faceplate mounted to a 1.5 mm steel chassis with a high-contrast OLED display (which can automatically shut off after 5 seconds of inactivity).
