Key Technical Features
AudioQuest uses specific metallurgical and structural techniques to differentiate the NRG-X3 from standard cables:
Long-Grain Copper (LGC): Unlike standard copper used in hardware store cables, LGC has fewer impurities and fewer "grain boundaries." This reduces the electrical distortion caused when signals jump across those boundaries.
Semi-Solid Concentric Topology: Instead of a messy bundle of thin copper strands, the NRG-X3 uses seven larger strands packed tightly around a center strand. Because the strands never change position, it virtually eliminates "strand-interaction distortion."
Direction-Controlled Conductors: AudioQuest tests every batch of metal to determine its grain directionality. By controlling the direction of the metal, they can effectively "drain" radio frequency (RF) noise away from your sensitive components.
Cold-Welded Connectors: The plugs are attached using a high-pressure "cold-welding" process rather than solder, which can introduce its own layer of distortion and heat damage.
