Core Technologies
The NRG-Y3 uses several proprietary AudioQuest technologies to clean up power delivery:
-
Long-Grain Copper (LGC): Unlike standard Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity (OFHC) copper, LGC has fewer impurities and fewer grain boundaries. This results in a smoother, clearer sound by reducing internal electrical distortion.
- Semi-Solid Concentric Conductors: In a typical cable, strands can shift position, causing "strand-interaction distortion." In the NRG-Y3, the strands are packed tightly in a fixed relationship, which keeps the signal more stable.
- ZERO-Tech (Zero Characteristic Impedance): Most power cables compress transients (sudden bursts of sound like a drum hit) because of their impedance. ZERO-Tech allows for uncompressed current transfer, making the audio feel more "dynamic" and "visceral."
- Direction-Controlled Conductors: All metal strands have a non-symmetrical grain structure. AudioQuest identifies the direction that best drains Radio Frequency (RF) noise and marks the cable accordingly to ensure noise is moved away from your sensitive components.
