Digital Coax Cables

The AudioQuest Cinnamon Digital Coaxial cable is a mid-tier digital interconnect designed to link components like CD transports, streamers, or media players to an external DAC or receiver.

In the AudioQuest lineup, it sits above the entry-level Forest and below the high-performance Carbon. Its primary goal is to reduce jitter (timing errors in the digital signal) which can cause digital audio to sound "flat" or "harsh."

Product description

Cinnamon Coax features high-purity Solid 1.25% Silver conductors and a Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation system for the most efficient dissipation of radio-frequency noise.

Core Technical Features

  • Solid 1.25% Silver Conductors: While the base of the wire is high-purity copper, it is plated with a layer of solid silver. Since high-frequency digital signals travel almost entirely on the surface of a conductor (the "skin effect"), this allows the cable to perform similarly to a solid-silver cable at a much lower cost.

  • Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation: The cable uses nitrogen-injected foam to create air pockets. Air is the ideal insulator because it doesn't absorb or release energy, which helps maintain the cable's critical 75-ohm impedance and prevents signal distortion.
  • Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): This system "shields the shield," absorbing and reflecting radio-frequency interference (RFI) before it can reach the ground plane of your equipment.
  • Cold-Welded Terminations: The gold-plated RCA plugs are attached using a high-pressure process rather than solder. Solder is often a source of distortion because it introduces an extra layer of different metal into the signal path.
