Key Technical Features
The Coffee coax is defined by its use of premium materials that specifically target noise and timing accuracy.
- 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): This is the most visible feature—a battery pack attached to the cable. It creates a stable electrostatic field that polarizes the insulation. This prevents the insulation from storing and releasing energy, which AudioQuest claims results in a "blacker" background and better dynamic contrast.
- Solid 10% Silver Conductors: High-frequency digital signals travel almost entirely on the surface of the conductor (the "skin effect"). By plating solid copper with a thick layer of 10% silver, AudioQuest achieves performance very close to pure silver at a much lower cost.
- 6-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): It uses alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics to "shield the shield." This prevents RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from reaching the equipment's ground plane and distorting the sound.
- Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation: Nitrogen-injected foam creates air pockets. Since air absorbs almost no energy, this reduces signal distortion and ensures the 75-ohm impedance remains constant across the entire length.
- Hanging-Silver Terminations: The connectors are cold-welded (no solder) and use "Hanging-Silver" directly over pure Red Copper. This provides a cleaner signal transfer than typical gold-plated brass connectors.
