Key Technical Features
AudioQuest incorporates several proprietary technologies into the Diamond to justify its "reference" status.
- 100% Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) Conductors: Unlike lower models that use silver-plated copper, the Diamond uses solid, high-purity silver. This is intended to eliminate "strand interaction" (a source of distortion) and provide a smoother surface for signal travel.
- 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): You will notice a small battery pack attached to the cable. This creates a strong, stable electrostatic field that "polarizes" the insulation. The goal is to minimize energy storage in the dielectric, which AudioQuest claims reduces non-linear time delays.
- Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation (NDS): This uses alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics to "shield the shield." It is designed to prevent RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from reaching the equipment's ground plane.
- Hard-Cell Foam Insulation: Nitrogen-injected foam creates air pockets; because air absorbs almost no energy, it helps maintain the signal’s integrity and the cable's physical geometry.
