Interconnect

The AudioQuest Golden Gate is a high-quality analog interconnect cable that sits in the middle of AudioQuest’s "Bridges & Falls" series. Named after the iconic San Francisco bridge, it is designed to offer a significant step up from entry-level cables by using higher-purity metals and more sophisticated noise-rejection technology.

Product description

Connect a wide range of audio electronics with this AudioQuest Golden Gate RCA analog interconnect, meticulously designed for outstanding flexibility and versatility. Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) conductors minimize distortion, Foamed-Polyethylene insulation preserves dynamic contrasts, and a Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation efficiently dissipates high-frequency noise for cleaner, clearer, more naturally beautiful music.

Key Technical Features

  • Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC): Unlike standard cables that use stranded copper, the Golden Gate uses solid conductors made of PSC. This "Perfect-Surface" metal is exceptionally smooth and pure, which helps eliminate harshness and increases clarity by reducing "strand interaction" (a common source of distortion).

  • Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry: This design provides a lower impedance path to the ground. By separating the ground and shield, the cable delivers a cleaner, quieter background and more dynamic sound compared to standard single-ended designs.

  • Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation (NDS): This system "shields the shield." It helps prevent Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from reaching the equipment’s ground plane, which effectively lowers the noise floor of your audio system.

  • Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation: Because air absorbs almost no energy, the "foamed" (air-filled) insulation minimizes the energy storage that can blur audio signals, resulting in a more focused sound.

  • Cold-Welded Gold-Plated Plugs: The connectors are attached using high pressure instead of solder. Since solder can be a source of distortion, this "cold-weld" technique ensures a more purer signal transfer.
