Informations
Product description
The Goldring 1012GX is a popular mid-to-high-tier moving magnet (MM) phono cartridge in Goldring's flagship 1000 Series. Hand-built in the UK, it is widely respected for offering an impressive balance of high detail retrieval, energy, and low surface noise.
Key Highlights
-
Gyger II Stylus: The defining feature of the 1012GX is its nude fine-line Gyger II diamond stylus. This specialized shape rides deeper into the groove than standard elliptical tips, extracting extra micro-detail and dynamic punch while minimizing surface noise and sibilance.
- Rigid Pocan Body: The cartridge body is made from Pocan—an ultra-rigid, glass-reinforced polymer. It minimizes structural resonance and holds internal parts locked firmly in place.
- High Output: Generates a strong 6.5 mV signal, making it extremely easy to drive with standard built-in or standalone MM phono stages without needing a lot of gain.
- Upgrade Path: All Goldring 1000-series cartridges share the exact same generator body. If you ever want to upgrade to Goldring’s top-of-the-line 1042 later on, you can simply swap out the stylus assembly for a D42 stylus without removing or re-mounting the cartridge.
