The Grado Aeon 4 (or Aeon series) sits near the absolute peak of Grado Labs' flagship Lineage Series, serving as an ultra-high-end phono cartridge built around the company’s signature Moving Iron (MI) design.

Positioned directly below their top-tier Epoch 4, the Aeon delivers roughly 85–90% of the flagship's reference performance at a lower price point, utilizing many of the exact same internal components and precision assembly techniques.

Key Design & Performance Highlights

  • Ultra-Low Moving Mass: Grado’s flux-bridger moving iron technology keeps moving mass significantly lower than standard moving coil (MC) or moving magnet (MM) cartridges. This yields lightning-fast transient response and lower record wear.

  • Sapphire Cantilever & Nude Shibata: Replacing traditional aluminum or boron cantilevers, the ultra-rigid sapphire stem transfers groove modulations with near-zero flex, while the nude Shibata diamond tracks deep into the groove to extract high-frequency detail and micro-dynamics.
  • Resonance Control: The hand-crafted Brazilian Ebony wood housing is density-matched and chemically treated to act as a natural acoustic damper, killing internal resonances and eliminating mechanical glare.
