Grado headphone pads are well-known for drastically changing the sound signature. The L-Cushions generally contribute to:
Enhanced Highs: They are known for delivering a sound with more "sparkle" and a more aggressive or upfront presentation compared to the smaller S-Cushions. The high frequencies are often emphasized.
Improved Soundstage: Due to their size and shape, which holds the driver slightly farther away from the ear compared to the flat pads, they can help open up the soundstage and improve imaging.
Midrange: The sound is often described as having an upfront or forward midrange.
Type: They are supra-aural (on-ear) foam pads with a distinctive bowl shape. They have an open center that is larger than the flat S-Cushions, which is why they are often called "Bowls."
Material: They are made from a high-quality foam.
Fit: They are considered the "Large" size among the standard Grado pads (L-Cush vs. S-Cush vs. G-Cush).
