Why It’s Different from Other Grados
-
Detachable Cables: This is the first Grado model to feature a user-removable cable system. It uses 4-pin mini XLR connectors at the cups, solving a long-standing complaint from fans about the fixed, bulky cables of previous flagships.
- Redesigned Drivers: The 52mm driver is entirely new, featuring a paper composite cone, a high-flux magnetic circuit using rare-earth alloys, and a copper-plated aluminum voice coil.
- Improved Comfort: The headband features 50% more padding than standard Grado designs and a new gimbals assembly that limits rotation to 105 degrees to reduce wear and tear.
- Sonic Neutrality: While many Grados are known for a "bright" or "colored" sound, the HP100 SE is frequently described by reviewers as the most neutral and uncolored headphone the company has ever produced.
