Core Technologies
The Ci R-Series is defined by three primary KEF innovations that separate it from the entry-level E or Q series:
- 12th Generation Uni-Q® Driver: The signature "point source" array where the tweeter is placed at the exact center of the midrange cone. This ensures that sound radiates evenly, creating a massive "sweet spot."
- MAT™ (Metamaterial Absorption Technology): A complex, maze-like structure behind the tweeter that absorbs 99% of unwanted sound radiation from the rear of the driver. This virtually eliminates high-frequency distortion.
- THX® Certified Ultra: Most models in this range carry THX Ultra certification, meaning they have passed rigorous tests to ensure they can reach "theatre levels" of volume and clarity in large rooms (up to 3,000 cubic feet).
Design & Build Quality
-
Precision Machined Baffles: Unlike cheaper plastic models, the R-Series uses a 5.5mm thick aluminum baffle. This provides a rigid, vibration-free platform that prevents the wall from "coloring" the sound.
- Ultra-Thin Bezel (UTB): The magnetic grilles have incredibly slim edges, making them nearly flush with the wall. They are also paintable to match your interior.
- Weather Resistant: While they aren't "outdoor" speakers, they are treated with a special plating and moisture-resistant materials, making them safe for bathrooms or humid environments.
