Product Description

The Reference 5 Meta isn't just a speaker; it’s the industry benchmark. As the crown jewel of The Reference Series, it showcases KEF’s relentless drive for perfection. Now featuring the advanced 12th-gen Uni-Q® driver and MAT™ technology, it redefines what high-performance audio can be.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™): This is a complex, maze-like structure placed behind the tweeter. It acts as an "acoustic black hole," absorbing 99% of the unwanted sound radiating from the rear of the driver. This virtually eliminates high-frequency distortion, resulting in a cleaner, more natural sound.

12th Generation Uni-Q® Driver: KEF’s signature driver array places the tweeter at the exact acoustic center of the midrange cone. This creates a "single point source," ensuring that sound disperses evenly throughout the room and eliminating the "sweet spot" limitation found in traditional speakers.

Shadow Flare: This is a specially designed transition surface around the Uni-Q array that reduces cabinet diffraction. It prevents the edges of the speaker from "muddying" the sound, which particularly improves the clarity of subtle details like plucked strings.

Bass Drivers: It features four 6.5-inch (165mm) high-performance aluminum bass drivers arranged symmetrically above and below the Uni-Q array. This configuration provides immense low-end power and agility.

Cabinet Construction: Each pair is hand-built in Maidstone, UK. The cabinets use Constrained Layer Damping and heavy internal bracing to ensure the enclosure remains acoustically inert.
