Core Technical Features
The Red River uses several of AudioQuest’s signature technologies to reduce distortion and noise.
- Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC): Unlike cheaper cables that use stranded wire (which can cause "strand interaction" distortion), Red River uses solid conductors. The PSC metal has an exceptionally smooth surface to prevent the harshness often found in lesser copper.
- Triple-Balanced Geometry: This means the cable has three dedicated conductors—one for the positive signal, one for the negative, and one for the ground. This ensures the shield is never used as a signal conductor, resulting in a much quieter background.
- Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): It uses a specialized shield to prevent Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from reaching the equipment's ground plane, which helps preserve fine musical detail.
- Cold-Welded Gold-Plated Plugs: Instead of using solder (which can introduce distortion), the connectors are attached using a high-pressure "cold-weld" process.
