REGA MM ND9

The Rega Nd9 is the flagship model in Rega’s Nd range of handmade Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges. Positioned at the top of the lineup above the Nd3, Nd5, and Nd7, the Nd9 aims to bridge the gap between high-end Moving Magnet convenience and exotic Moving Coil (MC) resolution.

Key Engineering Highlights

• Ultra-Powerful Neodymium Magnet (N55): Rega’s Nd series is named after its use of Neodymium magnets—among the most powerful commercial magnets available—which allow for high efficiency and dynamic headroom without requiring heavy, bulky internal assemblies.

• Boron Cantilever & Fine Line Stylus: Borrowing materials directly from Rega’s top-tier MC cartridges (like the Aphelion 2), the Nd9 pairs an ultra-stiff, low-mass Boron rod cantilever with a Fine Line nude diamond stylus. This profile maximizes surface contact with the record groove for exceptional detail retrieval and tracking accuracy.
• Glass-Filled PPS Body: Housed in a lightweight, rigid polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) injection-molded body, minimizing unwanted resonance and reducing mass on the tonearm bearings.
• Symmetrical Miniaturized Parallel Coils: Wound in-house using 38-micron wire (1,275 turns) to deliver low inductance, low impedance, and improved high-frequency extension.
