Product Description

The AudioQuest Dragon XTRM represents AudioQuest's flagship position in ultra-high-end speaker cable engineering. Part of the top tier within the Mythical Creatures family, the "XTRM" designation builds on the original Dragon ZERO/BASS platform by introducing new conductor metallurgies and structural refinements.

Key Technical Features

  • No-Grain Metals (NGS / NGC): The core upgrade in the XTRM generation is the introduction of No-Grain Silver (NGS) and No-Grain Copper (NGC) conductors. While the original Dragon used Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS), the XTRM formulation reduces internal grain boundary distortion even further, providing a smoother electrical path for ultra-low signal smearing.

  • ZERO-Tech (No Characteristic Impedance): Designed to eliminate characteristic impedance mismatches between the amplifier's output and the loudspeaker's varying impedance load. By removing electrostatic fields between conductors, the cable allows uncompressed transient current delivery.
  • No-Grain Silver RF Drains: Uses dedicated NGS shield conductors (PSS/NGS drain wires) aligned with directionality to ground out ambient radio-frequency noise before it leaks into sensitive audio circuits.
  • Level-7 Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): Integrates a multi-layer Graphene/Carbon Mesh Network combined with AudioQuest’s 72V Dielectric-Bias System (DBS). The DBS pack saturates the insulation with a continuous DC field, preventing the dielectric material from absorbing and re-emitting energy into the signal path.
  • FEP Air-Tube Insulation: Conductors are suspended in Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene air tubes to minimize contact between the metal and outer insulation.
