The Silent Angel Bonn N8 is a specialized 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch designed specifically for audiophiles. While standard network switches prioritize data throughput and efficiency, the N8 is engineered to reduce electrical noise and "jitter" (timing errors) that can degrade the performance of high-end music streamers and DACs.
The N8 distinguishes itself from consumer-grade switches through several internal optimizations.
- TCXO (Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillator): This is the "heart" of the device. It provides a clock accuracy of 0.1 ppm—roughly 50 times more precise than the clocks found in standard switches. This ensures more accurate data packet timing.
- SANA (Silent Angel Noise Absorber): The interior of the chassis is lined with a specialized EMI-absorbing material to prevent internal electromagnetic interference from bleeding into the signal path.
- Medical-Grade Power Adapter: It ships with a power supply designed to minimize electrical leakage and high-frequency noise.
- Low-Noise Circuitry: The board layout includes power isolation circuits for both the clock and the main system to prevent crosstalk.
