The Vicoustic Super Bass Extreme Ultra is a premium, corner-mounted bass trap specifically engineered to control low-frequency buildup in small to medium-sized rooms. It is widely considered one of the more effective "ready-to-use" solutions because it uses a multi-layered approach rather than just a block of foam.
How It Works (The "Hybrid" Tech)
Unlike basic foam traps that only absorb mid-high frequencies, the Ultra uses three distinct layers to tackle the energy of bass waves:
- The Internal Membrane: This acts like a drum skin. When low-frequency pressure builds up in a corner, the membrane vibrates sympathetically. This converts high-pressure sound energy into physical movement.
- High-Density Foam: Behind the membrane, two layers of high-density acoustic foam absorb the energy created by that movement.
- Micro-Perforated Back Plate: The rear of the panel has 1mm holes that act as a Helmholtz resonator, which Vicoustic claims increases efficiency by about 20% compared to non-perforated models.
